1877 Indian Head Cent. PCGS VF25 CAC SOLD
An excellent mid-grade key to the Indian Head cent series, with a CAC sticker to boot! Nice even color with no contact marks of note to distract from this awesome rarity. The number of surviving 1877 cents is unusually low due to the economic climate at the time. These simply were not saved and vast numbers were turned back in to the mint due to the Redemption Act of ’71. Couple this with the unlikely mintage (the mint reports state 852,500 though the number is more likely around 200,00 per Boewers) and the 1877 turns out to be much more rare than the Lincoln ’09-S VDB!
