Originally intended for use in Ireland, many collectors include a Hibernia halfpence in their collections due to the kinship with Wood’s Rosa Americana series which was produced for use in the Americas. This particular coin features an inked “Q” on the obverse. Early collectors often inked the variety attributions on the obverse of their coins, most often seen on the state coinages of Connecticut and New Jersey. This coin is of the 11 harp strings variety with dots after “Hibernia” and the date on the reverse.
